Ink, charcoal, graphite on paper

I have a habit of taking instant photographs of friends who visit my home. This series of drawings is based on those photographs. The work began when I was looking through the stack of photos and felt the urge to follow the sense of touch in a metaphorical way, tracing memories and sensations.
Instant photos have low resolution and often lack focus, so I use a magnifying glass to observe more closely. Even then, the images remain unclear, so I draw while reflecting on the past, thinking about what those people are doing now, or how they might be if they were alive, mixing imagination, memory, and delusions.
Through this process, I turn my attention to imagination and memory to confront what cannot be fully captured by photographic observation. What remains beyond the reach of the image eventually leads me to explore what cannot be fully narrated about myself.
This self-indulgent process might also be seen as a self-portrait in which I reassess myself through the subjects of the photographs.
