敬虔な新宗教の信者の方に、信仰について尋ねると、宇宙と合致することを目指すような宗教観なのだという。私にとってその話は、星の距離ほど遠くの出来事のように聞こえ、右から左に流れてしまう。

小さい頃、私は掌を目の辺りにぐっと押し当て、視神経を刺激してチカチカさせる「星をみる遊び」を行っていた。それは、現実から少しだけ遠ざかることができた。現実を遠ざけていく手のひらの宇宙から、彼女の語りを考えてみる。

When I asked a devout follower of a new religion about her faith, she told me that his religious beliefs are such that he strives to be congruent with the universe. To me, that sounds like an event as far away as the stars, flowing from right to left.
